Yesterday was Feb. 15, marking Silas' 5 month birthday. I had a moment last night when I was tucking him into bed. He was kicking his legs and reaching for me happily when I realized that at some point in the last month or so he had learned to control his hand and arm movement. I tried to remember the first time I sat down at the computer with him in my lap and he pulled things off the desk onto the floor. I couldn't.

A lot of "firsts" happen when I'm not paying attention. It isn't that I'm not there or watching Silas do them; rather I assume they're just a fluke. I think this happens because when I think about human growth and development seriously, I'm absolutely floored. It isn't just the first breath that's a miracle. Unlike my pregnancy, this is going by too quickly.
He's changing.
Joel and I are changing.
The Fankhauser story continues.

Heath and I agreed just last night that we took alot of things for granted before we had kids. Like when you put some thing on the table, like a plate of food, it will stay where you put it. Not so with Anabelle and Ava. Ava is always trying to pull stuff off to see it crash on the floor and Anabelle trys to sneek chips or cookies off our plates.
That's really lovely. Eleanor has a first today (starting at 4:30 this morning)-- her first fever. Eeek!
Alice, you are so good at saying things. Maybe blogs are just the way for the revival of "The Barbie Newsletter." You are now bookedmarked. Tell Silas good job and Hubba Hubba Tickle Mouse for me. ok better read chapter 14 now. bye.
