Abu Dhabi

This was Silas' new word yesterday. He said it over and over. I'm not sure if it had something to do with remembering what we lost this time 5 years ago or needing a vacation, or having developing a heart for those hurting in the UAE. Whatever the cause, I said a prayer for the families still grieving their loss of their loved ones in New York, a prayer for Joel and myself already in need of a vacation, and a prayer for the people of UAE.

We started the Great Celebration of September 15 on Saturday at the grown-up Fanks' house. Silas' attempt #1 at a birthday cupcake ended up with gagging but thought sticking his fingers in the icing and smearing it on the highchair tray was pretty serious fun.

Finally, to which of the following do you think this pair of glasses orginally belonged?

My brother was actually stationed in Abu Dhabi for a few months and said it is quite nice so it would be a great place to vacation and minister to the lost.

I think they were originally Emily F's. That is my guess.

I know! I know!

But I can't vote, since I am "in the know" about the accused - I mean, the culprit - I mean, the original glasses-owner! After all, the contest was photograhed in my home.

As the official Fankhauser-side-o'-the-family grandpa, I taught Silas how to eat the cupcake. Cupcake is Hebrew for "really messy sweet tasting, frosting covered thingy".

Maybe not...

I'm pretty sure those belong to Joel, as they look the most natural on him. The glasses make Alice and Emily make hamster faces, so I'm pretty sure that they never wore them long term or else their face would have gotten stuck like that. Joel, on the other hand, makes that face all the time...meaning his face did get stuck like that, meaning the glasses MUST be his.

benji, my mother gave those glasses to me as a wedding present. i will not give them back.
