Conspiracy Theory

Silas and Micah keep waking each other up. It's very frustrating. It's most frustrating not because I especially need the time to myself, but because when they don't sleep they get overly tired, thus mean and cranky. Silas does things like throw 2 forks at the cat, or spitefully pulls all the socks out of Joel's sock drawer. I wouldn't mind if it was a game, but he cries and yells things at me while he does it. Sometimes he walks around in circles, saying in a half crying, half whining voice, "Where's the water?" or, "the bed. the bed." Sometimes I oblige and put him in bed. He doesn't want to sleep. He just wants his pacifier.

Micah, on the other hand, expresses his over-tiredness by not wanting to do anything. He doesn't want to swing, exersauce in the exersaucer, play on the couch or play with the dangling barnyard toys. He doesn't want to be cradled, swaddled or doodle-dumped. He just wants to be held like an old boring sack of russet potatoes.

Alice, you are an excellent writer! You oughta think about writing some short stories some day. You convey the imagery well!!

On another note - I also feel your frustration. We never had any days like that with Matt, Joel, and / or Emily (yeah, right...). We'll pray for you - and the boys (all three).

You should consider running a fan or dishwasher in each of their rooms. We've found it a nice sound buffer. We run the fan in the girls room so that they can't hear the TV when we watch excessivly violent shows like 24. I like to run the dishwasher during naptime so that I can't hear them. If I can't hear them crying or throwing books I consider it a sucessful nap. You could run the dishwasher in silas's room. Don't you have some experience moving dishwashers?

What if everybody did that when they were tired, cranky, fustrated and annoyed? they jsut went around and asked where the water was.

I agree with Pops - you should write short stores Alice. I bet MOPS would publish a book of mommy short stories from you!

If I was cranky and frustrated, I like the idea of crying "bed, bed" so that I could be pacified and rest.

God bless you and your little guys Alice.
